Prep Tips

  • Give your dip a kick of spicy flavor by adding a teaspoon of red pepper flakes!
  • This recipe also works with fresh spinach! I recommend using fresh baby spinach and chopping into smaller pieces. Add to the crockpot just as you would the frozen spinach and cook according to recipe directions.
  • For an extra thick dip, go ahead and use the entire 8 ounce block of cream cheese.
  • Mozzarella and parmesan cheese are the traditional ingredients for spinach dip, but feel free to substitute with what you have on hand or your favorites.
  • When choosing your cheese, I recommend buying a block of real cheese and shredding your own. Bagged shredded cheeses often contain starches or other additives, so if you go that route, be sure to check the ingredients label.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Do You Fix Runny Spinach Dip?

The key to making sure you don’t end up with a watery spinach dip is to completely drain and dry your vegetable ingredients before adding to the crockpot. Frozen spinach will release moisture as it thaws, so be sure to thaw it out all the way and then drain and press out any remaining liquid. Canned artichokes should also be drained first. I recommend patting the artichokes dry as well.

If despite these steps, your spinach dip is runnier than you’d like, you can thicken it up by stirring in more cream cheese while the dip is still hot.

How Long Does Cooked Spinach Dip Last?

When your spinach dip is done cooking, switch the crockpot to the warm setting. Keep the dip covered and on warm until you’re ready to serve.

Any leftovers should be transferred to an airtight container and kept refrigerated. It will stay good in the fridge for up to 4-5 days.
