Every bite is absolutely delicious and will leave you wanting more! Low carb and vegetarian-friendly too!
Keto Firecracker Tofu & Fried Cauliflower Rice
One of my favorite things that my husband makes is crispy stir-fry tofu! There are a few different sauces he makes, but firecracker sauce is hands-down one of the best. Or maybe THE best!! I could eat this stuff every day!!
Tofu has a bad rap for being bland or mushy…but firecracker tofu is absolutely NONE of those things! This tofu is crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and it soaks up all of the addicting firecracker sauce!
Trust me, this recipe will make you a tofu lover too!!
What is Firecracker Sauce?
Firecracker sauce is a simple Asian-inspired stir-fry sauce that is a delicious combination of sweet and spicy flavors. It goes well with just about anything — from chicken to shrimp to tofu!
Traditional firecracker sauce has a hefty dose of sugar, brown sugar, or honey to make it sweet — definitely NOT keto friendly! But with a simple swap, you can make a spot-on low carb firecracker sauce that tastes just as great and won’t kick you out of ketosis!

Kitchen Supplies Used:
Why I Love This Recipe:
- Tastes like take-out, but way healthier!
- Only about 2g net carbs per serving!
- Ready in 30 minutes!
Instructions
This is such an easy recipe! Really!
While you prep the tofu you can preheat the oven to 450 degrees.
Prepping the tofu is as easy as this:
- Slice and cube tofu.
- Toss the tofu with oil, soy sauce, and arrowroot.
Spread the tofu cubes onto a lined baking sheet and bake for 22-30 minutes. That’s a pretty large range, but that’s because you might like your tofu more or less crispy! Just keep an eye on it and remove when it starts to crisp up to your liking!
I recommend flipping the tofu halfway through for even cooking.
To make the Firecracker Sauce:
Combine the sauce ingredients in a pan and cook on medium heat until it starts to reduce. When sauce thickens, pour it over your cooked tofu.
Serve your tofu with a side of veggies or cauliflower rice (click here for our easy recipe!) You can even whip up cauliflower fried rice using this trick:
Add riced cauliflower to pan with a couple Tablespoons of coconut aminos or soy sauce. You can add in some diced veggies too, though keep in mind that they do increase the carb count. (But I think the nutrition from vegetables is worth a couple extra carbs!)
If you want it spicy, add a little sriracha too!
Sauté until the cauliflower starts to soften, then use a spoon to create a well in the middle of your cauliflower like this:
Add a teaspoon of sesame oil, followed by two eggs. Gently stir until eggs are scrambled.
Once the eggs are scrambled, you can mix them into the rest of the rice.
We love to serve our firecracker tofu (or any tofu for that matter!) on top of cauliflower rice, with a sprinkling of green onions and sesame seeds.
